Bold and Beautiful Butterfly (and a rose)

Butterfly off the page with boarders.
 
Started out to day wanting to finish some cards i stated yesterday--- --That is not what happened. I did something completely different  Anna said "color till your heart is content" so.... pulled out my new Chameleon markers and go busy.

Here is what I  ended up with ...

 

Was not happy when I thought I was done the first time, but with these lovely alcohol markers you can just keep coloring over the top or use the correction marker to make your booboos all better.

Anyway I went back in and added a bunch more black and expanded my butterfly a bit.  Still wasn't happy but thought I'd add some boarders from the new Anna Boarder dies.

 Well the left over bits from inside the cut were so pretty that I ran them thru the xyron and popped them on the image.  See the little half sunburst flowers, scalloped edges, and the beautiful antenna -  all the left over tiny bits!

Layered it all up framed in black, matted on violet and add a ribbon.

Still need practice using my new markers but over all not bad for a second try.

Fist try was this rose card - just okay but I  am improving -  I think.

Flurries of Jolly Sock Snowmen Families

These Where My Favorite

Today I am sharing a series of Snow Families I made for the craft fair.  They sold very well (Set of 3 for $12.).  I should have remembered to keep a cute set for myself-- Oh well.

* Supplies:

• White Sock- White in both child and adult male size for bodies
• Colored Socks and footies- coordinating patterned socks and footsie (in both adult male and female sizes and colors) for clothing and hats 
• Nylon knee-highs – I used these and liners so rice wouldn’t poke thru the socks.  I put the rice in the base and topped with stuffing for the head tied it off; cut off excess and put the fill knee high in to the white sock.    Note:  glue seemed to work better for getting the hats inn the “just right position”.
• Rice – to weight the base of the snowfolks
• Stuffing- for the head and some of the upper body
• Rubber bands – to “squeeze-in” section (head, body, etc.)
• Hot glue and glue gun - while I sewed on most of the features some needed stability of glue, or in some cases, glue worked better or I was tiered and glue was easier.   
• Buttons, beads, decorative straight pins, gems, and embroidery floss – for eyes, nose, and mouths
• Ribbons, bows, small flowers – to accessorize, of course ;)
• Needle and thread – to attach eyes, bows, secure hats and scarves, etc..  Note:  A curved needle worked better for me to sew on the eyes, etc.…
• Knit hat and scarf - I bought one small set from the craft store all the rest where just cut piece of socks.  
• Yarn - scarves and tie-offs

The Faceless  Masses

*  When I go to make my  supply list, it always surprises me on how many supplies I actually use – it makes it seem more difficult than it is.  This was a lot more involved than my gnomes.  The gnomes where so easy to make (in an up coming post IF I can find any pictures of them).

Boo - Altered Wooden Letters in a Spooky-Cute Combo

Sorry I have been missing -  I was busy preparing for the Craft Fair for the last month (was last Saturday and went very well!)

As I type this I am enjoying the nice cool fall weather we finally have here in south Texas!

My latest craft fair project was this cute (yet spooky) BOO décor.

I took the basic wooden letters (on sale from Hobby Lobby) and witch doctored them up!

CRFAT FAIR NOTES: I had this for sale at the craft fair for $10 - however, a very nice lady stopping said she had just purchased some "boo blocks" that were no where near as cute as mine for $15.  She said she would feel guilty buying my for that price with all the work I put into them, so... when she didn't buy them I decided I'd like to keep them for myself and raised the price to $20 -  people asked but no one bought.  I sold lots of snowmen (later post)  sold some Witch hats and Gnomes (later post) and the thing I sold most of was my wilted pathetic ghosts" -  the Ghost got all ruined in the humidity (starch and cheese cloth) and I thought I was going to have to give then away or trash them but once I added the word "pet" they flew off like, well ghosts!

4th of July Banner

Independence Day is just around the corner so I have a patriotic project to share with you.

Here is a banner I made for our Annual 4^th of July Picnic.  I used Elegant Edges for the lacy scalloped circles.  Elegant Edges is a great cartridge by the way.  It is one of the few I paid more that $40 for.  Worth it, but of course I found it on sale a few weeks later.  I just couldn’t wait on this one when it came out back when.  

I used Platin School Book for the letters (this and Hello Kitty are my favorites for banner letters and titles).  I used papers from 3 stacks: The Paper Studio (A Boy’s Universe), DCWC (The Green Stack), and K & Company (Air Force Paper).  All the papers had a different back (either white or a different print).

I used Stand and Salute for the triangle pinafores and the USA circle.  The neat thing I did was wielded a scallop, from Elegant Edges, on top of the triangle.  When I cut these on two-sided and folded them over, I got a beautiful lacy ruffle dimension. 

Once they were cut I scored them all at the top of the triangle and folded the elegant edge over.  Next, I got to use another favorite tool, my Crop-A-Dilel II, to punch holes in the stack all at once.  I used various scraps of red, white & blue ribbon to tie them all together.  Viola – A beautiful July Banner!!

I made one more banner for my neighbor who came home from Iraq (but I forgot to take picture).  If you remember, last year, I made her a going away album of animal cards for her to send to her three little kidos while she was gone – They loved it.
